My review of Steve's ATRE device for the Suzuki SV650. ATRE stands for Automatic Timing Retard Eliminator. This device changes the voltage signal sent to the SV's computer by the gear sensor and prevents the OEM programming from retarding the engine timing in the lower gears. This device changes nothing when the gear selector is in the top two or three gears.

  • I got mine from a SVRider.com member called 92Westshady who makes it specifically for the SV 650 and SV 1000. Not sure if the electonics would be any different, but it comes with the matching electrical plugs which no doubt would be different for your bike. You could easily contact him..thanks for watching.

  • Where'd you get yours from? Do they make one for the sv1000s?

  • I don't know about the SV1000, but I'm sure the person that makes the TRE would know. You can contact him by going to the SVRider website; his user name is 92WestShady. Search under ATRE.

  • That looked like an easy enough install. Just need to find the correct plugs!

I'd have to say, though, that I never noticed any performance issues in the lower gears when I had my SV.

  • Agree. Most of the SV folks reported better first gear manners with the ATRE, which was appealing to me, but I must say my SV is quite smooth. It wasnt always so, but I think the TPS must have settled in. Im looking forward toward more riding evaluation. Todays weather was uncooperative.
