Sid Chow Tan - Chinese Head Tax/Exclusion redress...

Sid Chow Tan of the Head Tax Families Society of Canada on the the continuing movement for an inclusive just and honourable redress. Taped at the first Annual General Meeting of the Society, which formed in the fall of 2006. The Stephen Harper Conservative government's unilaterally imposed settlement of June 22, 2006 has shut the door on the affected elderly sons and daughters of head tax families. The Society was formed in the aftermath to pursue this issue of justice and honour for pioneer Chinese families which the government turned into "photo ops and pandering for votes."

Why is it that the Canadian government always having to apology to groups of people for racist behavior? The day will come when the Canadian governments will apologies to foreign trained professional for not recognizing their skills and educational qualification. As a multi-cultural nation Canadians should get together and drive out the English monarch and all people with British last name. Then and only then can we Canadians be a nation with common bond.

Canadian image outside of these borders is carefully maintained by the government. Canada is presented as a near utopia. In reality, it is a sickening cesspool of racism mainly directed at aboriginals. In the US bigots aren’t afraid to admit their racism; in Canada it’s all about closet racism, hypocrisy and denial. I prefer the open racism of the US; at least I know who my enemies are.

No other Eurasian peoples had to pay head tax. Chinese and First Nations are Canada's only cultures that had legislation's serving to promote racism in our supposed democratic and multicultural country. I would like to help support this and that horrible "Indian Act" Where do I sign up.

I am so angry. I seen that speech from the throne. It was disgusting beyond belief. Paul Martin and Steven Harper made it look like a bidding war over who was going to cut or eliminate. My feeling at the time was it was a fucked up speech just to get votes the racist hypocrite. I am so angry - at the "Chinese Immigration Act" Used those poor men to build our railways let them die like dogs. pandering is what I thought too. I would like to support your cause.
