SESSION #2-
Layla's owner did a great job this week working with week #1 home work.
Week #2 we had Layla on an easywalk harness and leash. There were two children in a circle (for human visual aid) pretending to reach out and shake hands. Children were calm and slow in movement as we want to work underthreshold.
As we approach, any behavior Layla offers besides jumping gets a C/T. WHen she is settled in,the children step outside of circle but still keep some distance.
No rewards are ever offered by the approaching person, only offered by the handler/owner. Look at Layla's focus on working while offering a behavior everytime a child approaches.
OWNER HOMEWORK week #2 -
- 2 hours minimum of aerobic exercise a day
- no off leash time with other people around for now
- no access to the front door if someone knocks
- Have at least 1-2 people a day, that you know, that can act as approaching strangers. Keep appropriate distance, have then act calm and move slowly for this week, have HIGH value rewards ready, and walk around. As your dog offers any behavior besides jumping, C/T. Session should not be more than 3 minutes in length. Can repeat this several times a day if you have time.
- continue to work with walking toward your dog and C/T for any behavior besides jumping (30 repetitions a day is preferrable)
are you using a harness in this picture not a collar and lead??

Hi,
yes it is and Easywalk harness by Premier. Layla gets 'way' to excited when there are distractions combined with tension on her neck (oppositional reflex)so we went to a chest harness and it helped bunches!
