Per Carolyn: "As we stood holding signs on Pennsylvania Avenue, I couldnt help but wonder how many of our foremothers were smiling from above. On March 13, 1913, 8,000 suffragists marched in a parade right along PA Ave. for the vote. Now we stood in the very same spot - honoring their efforts and carrying out their legacy of Equality. It took great courage to stand there as a small group speaking out for womens rights on that sultry street corner. Yet to see the smiling faces, arms waving and cars honking confirmed how important our presence was to re-awaken Washingtonians from our patriarchal slumber even if just for a moment."
