  • I don't know why they thought this would ever work in a country with mandatory helmet laws.

  • Melbourne has 450 bikes- average 183 trips a day

Dublin also has 450 bikes- average 3020 trips a day

Why? Simple. No (farcical) helmet laws (in ALL of Europe).

Loose the antiquated, kneejerk nanny law & watch Melbourne transform!

(src: The Age- 'Helmet law hurting shared bike scheme')

  • Requiring cyclists to wear helmets is incredibly stupid and short-sighted. Why not require everyone to wear a helmet when they leave the house? If you really want to increase safety for cyclists start ticketing cars who intimidate pedestrians.

My city just started the bike share program and I think it will radically change Valencia in a very short time. There are instantly many more cyclists on the streets already and the network is even finished.

  • this is not very professional, looks like it's being run by first year uni students doing a prac assignment.

And I agree, I know it's the law to wear a helmet, but I suspect this is the point that will cause this venture to falter.

  • @ErnieRidesAgain these bikes are of the exact same design as the London Cycle Hire scheme apart from the positioning of the bikes' rear LED's which, in London, are not on the seat, but are attached to the frame, either side of the wheel, like in 2:15 i can't see clearly, aren't those lights?? if not then they definitely are reflectors which would stand in place of mud guard feflectors

and it's a shame that you guys have to carry a helmet around with you if you want to use one of these bikes :/

  • 27x "umm" & 17x "ahhh" in 3mins 12secs..

Who puts out a presentation of this pitiful calibre??!!

And a rear LED which should make you pretty visible at night - except when you wear a jacket or a bag/satchel which hangs over the rear edge of the seat... Reflective stripes on the mud guard would be a good idea!! And an enclosed basket at the front for shopping! Who designed these?? Who gave the go ahead?!! Room for improvement, aplenty..

  • Um.. Umm.. Ummm... !!!!!! wtf?!

Great way to promote your new service... NOT!!! TERRIBLE.
