NUKKAN.KUNGUN.YUNNAN
This powerful 22 minute documentary presents the real impact the water crisis is having on the Coorong and its people. Driven by Ngarrindjeri youth it examines the effects on Ngarrindjeri culture as well as the damage for all Australians.
The question is, what will we do to change it?

20 Ngarrindjeri community members from Raukkan and Meningie made this film during a Hero Project workshop.
They conducted over 15 interviews with Narrindjeri Elders and youth to create an informative, emotionally charged documentary.

The Hero Project team worked with the community to identify key issues and stories and trained the participants in digital media skills from scripting, storyboards, video and sound recording to editing .

     G'day... Great video. Good work..!

I made a submission to the Windsor Inquiry. They sent me a copy of the Report, and it's VILE. Check my vid's 2 see.

643 submissions, 20 Scientists, 10 Aborigines, 10 "Greenies", 602 Irrigation Lobbyists... And me.

We lost the debate. They call it "CounterCyclical Pumping", & all Environmental Flows to happen during floods; but in droughts, water will all go to Irrigators ! See my response. Ciao...

  • I went to camp Coorong when i was 11 -12 in 1995, and I have never forgot it, I remember Tom and the others , it was amazing

  • Illuminating.

  • keep the fight up guys.i cant understand why people care more about crops and irrigation than they do about the environment, esspecially a beautifull place like this!! its makes me sick

  • @thesummerhouse yes exactly about the allocation of water, BUT we are in a drought, a flowing of water drought not a rainfall drought thats the message being shown but it is good to see people talking about this and keep supporting always.

    CHEERS

  • Thanks so much for sharing this. It's sad to watch but such an important message.

I hope we learn from our mistakes before it's too late!

  • Fantastic presentation. I wish us all the best in helping your culture and our problem with the water diversion from the Coorong. Daryl Morris

  • This is an environmental disaster!!!

Over-allocation of water NOT drought is the problem.

The proposed weir at Pomanada Island is NOT an option.

The Lower Lakes & Coorong NEED FRESH WATER NOW...

  • This makes me even prouder to be a Ngarrindjeri...Im living over seas for the past 5 and a half years...and it makes me sad to see what is happening to our land..I can only pass on what I have seen here and get people from all over the world to see this...Uncle Tom and Uncle George I wish I were there to learn more on our culture to pass it onto my Kids...I'll be there this Christmas and hope to spend a bit of time with you both...Nukkan
