This is from the end of the WE JAM ECONO documentary, which tells the story of the legendary California punk rock group the Minutemen. At the end of the film here, we see bassist Mike Watt tell us that meeting D. Boon changed his life, much in the way that their fans were changed by their music.
As the film closes, we're given an acoustic performance of "History Lesson Pt. II" from the album "Double Nickels on the Dime". The song seems somewhat sad here as we say good by to one of the greatest rock bands of all time.
Closing out, Mike Watt notes happily that "we jam econo". Rest in peace, D.

you know the title of the book "Our Band Could Be Your Life" came from this song?
It's a really good book. Anyone who listens to 80's indie rock needs to have this book.

yes, I've read pieces of it. I've thought about buying it for the sections on Black Flag and Beat Happening :)

Seriously love this song so much. Like another comment, I just stumbled across it on YouTube, and I don't know why, but it knocked me sideways. I'm pretty obsessed with Bob Dylan too, if that adds anything to the commentary...

I found Big Black from that book. Long live the mastery of Steve Albini.

Now, I've probably heard a few hundred thousand songs by this point, ranging from the baroque to the saccharine, but I remember I froze up when I heard this song, and I don't know why. It's not sentimental, it's not as powerful as other tracks of theirs, it's really pretty understated. But man, sometimes the simples things are everything... in my small town, with my small crew, we had our ears firmly planted to the ground growing up. And lemme tell ya...
We were fuckin' corndogs.
