@TheBohemianTenor she is amazing as Elle Woods but take that role a little to comically. she perhaps should have been a little more prissy.
-
@Fayley did you know that they wanted Cyndi Lauper for the movie? she would have been perfect!
-
@Fayley and @RebeletteRose - I wouldn't want to spend anytime denigrating your preferences like this .... You have a right to your opinion as I do mine .... I love how Ellen approaches the role and renders the art of it. It isnt 'right' to like one or the other .... Enjoy whomever you like !

@TrajanGregory Ergh, Ellen Greene can do one. She's the reason I can't watch the film. Her voice grates on me. I'd listen to this version anytime.
-
@TrajanGregory I agree, but this woman is doing a pretty good job. She understands the marriage between comedy and tragedy that comes with this role.

I'm auditioning for this show at my school in two weeks and I had no clue how to sing this until I watched this. Thanks! (:

genius :D i just auditioned for this show at my school :D x

Time to chime in here - Ellen Greene has a lock on this, in my view ...
No other singer has the underlying innocence and simple minded naivete that Ellen expresses, even in the movie version. Her enunciation is perfectly paced, her timbre and dynamics modulate between 'Audrey' and 'Brilliant Broadway Singer' with utter ease ....
Ellen is Audrey, and no one else comes close to her emotional impact ...
My opinion ....

This actually made me cry!

her voice suits this role a lot better than it suits Elle Woods I feel. Her voice is too heavy for Elle. I saw her live in this, and she made me cry!
