I think he blew on or both engines, since the back of the boat leaves the water on inpact and it sounds like he alredy had the throttles down. Lissten to the sound in the end.

I could only imagine what kind of force the crew was facing when the boat landed with the rear like that and then slamming the bow right down. Probably he could not hold on? Fell on the throttle? I think we will never know for sure :)

@E30TURBOS38 the announcer made such a sudden determination of the situation. Notice that in the beginning of the video around 0:20 the announcer takes a long time to notice that the boat went way up in the air. Yet, teh same announcer instantly says "he's outta' the race" when teh boat had some issue. I realize my original comment was a coupla' years ago. funny how time flies!
