@laurencebrown - Bobstores says:
Please hold on tight to your conviction.
Do not let the non-progressive spoilers dissuade you. If they had their way ... then the NIAGRA FALLS would not currently be one of the WONDERS OF THE WORLD but a natural geological phenomenon only of interest to geologists. SAD!

@bobstores While I respect your right to expression, I do hope that you will see that this kind of activity is a destructive threat to the vulnerable environment in which natural wonders such as the Kaiteur Falls is located. These are acts of people who are only interested in satisfying their desire for cheap pleasure and who have no respect for our delicate environment. Activities such as this in such places should be condemned by those of us who love our country and its natural beauty.

@MsDreamy22 - Thanks for your comment and 'GOSH' you are right.
I still stay in touch with the old country by blogging under the name SATISH_UK on the stabroeknews com website.
Guyana is clearly an unspoilt tourist destination as demonstrated by these plucky teenage Brit-kids but Guyana has serious crime issues that need to be addressed before mainstream tourism can be a success.
We can but hope that were brave young Brits lead …. that old rich American tourists will follow.

I am happy to see that Guyana's outdoor resources are being "harnessed" Guyana has the outdoor resources to develop a wonderful outdoor adventures program. Trust training for various corporations, military and civil society development. Go ahead Bushmasters. As a Certified Recreation Specialist who has facilitated such activities, I do see the benefits of such a development.

Wow, I have stood on that very rock that they start from, I do this on Kauai in Hawaii but would love the chance to rock Kaieteur !!!
Guyana desperately needs to find ways to bring in income which encourages wildlife and the environment to be protected, rather than the appalling destruction happening in other countries, where loggers, poachers, farmers, gold-miners, etc are currently on track to all but erase rainforests from the earth in the evolutionary blink of an eye. Guyana is in the almost unique position that the tide can still be stemmed - just. Embracing environmental tourism has to be key in achieving this.

I am a million per cent behind preserving Guyana's unique treasures, but with respect I think you are attacking the wrong target. Responsible programmes like this take great care to leave the environment exactly as they find it, and help highlight the incredible beauty of the country to a global audience.
