Deuteronomy 7:3 is to both the Dad and the Mom. Only your Dad traces you to a Tribe, not your Mother. You have to have a Dad who traces the blood line to Judas Father of Judah to know you're a Jew.

@Tarynnicoll Rape or abandonment, that I don't know, I do know they did change it. The "why" only God knows. Deuteronomy 7:3 is to both, you're not to give your daughters to the Gentiles nor are you to take the Gentiles for your sons. Most of these self-proclaimed "Jews" on here can't even trace their tribe since it is on their Father's side. Most are half-Israelites.

. why switch jewish heritage/identity from abraham to sarah? torah speaks clearly of passing man's seed from men to men..not woman... men have non jewish wives.. and children with them, yet the children are jewish.... NOW this is not the case..your mother must be jewish in order for you to be jewish... isnt this change due to jewish woman's offspring being fatherless, due to rape or abandonment by the romans and jewish men, in turn leaders respond by keeping jewry descent through mother?
