The morning that I set out with my brother and mom to tackle the climb to the top of the mountain to visit the Tepozteco pyramid. I wanted to grab some breakfast but they wanted to go get quesodillas (first-time Mexico travelers, never adventurous enough with food :-p) so I grumbled and followed them. I should have just eaten one, but no, I wanted actual breakfast.
I should have eaten one.
Halfway up the mountain I felt hungry and really dumb for not eating what everyone else wanted (served me right) and brother wasn't feeling too good so he had to turn back and return to the house. We trekked onward, me enjoying the climb for maybe the last time as the town was in the process of putting stairs in to make the climb easier.
Tourists :-| Well, whatever brings in more paying customers, I suppose.
So we eventually get to the top and meet my grandmother and Juan Carlos who, as my luck would have it, didn't have any food on them. I took this video of my victory and mom's defeat (ha-ha!) from climbing the mountain and babbled for a little bit until we were all ready to make the climb down. It was during that climb down that I made my second stupid move of the trek; Mom, grandma and Juan Carlos were in front of me on the way down taking it slow (tired and whatnot) while I was fidgeting in the back from cranky hunger. Finally I just gave up and hopped past them and death-walked down the hour's climb down in fifteen minutes.
Upon reaching the bottom I did three things:
1. Bought a Gatorade because I was sweating like a fiend
2. Went to the nearest shop and bought chips, cookies, juice, a muffin and several packs of wafers.
3. Staggered through haft the town to the house, went up to my room, and expired.
So just eat. Anything you eat in the morning can be considered "breakfast".
is it really difficult to climb? i want to go but have twins who are 5 and daughter who is 10. do u think that they will make it or should i just leave them in a hotel room?

@chula062268 It's not a difficult climb if taken slowly, with younger children I'd be concerned with safety. The higher trails are rocky with no stairs or guardrails and the last series of stairs are very steep, though these last have handrails.
It's been several years since I've been back so I can't say what changes have been made, they were building more steps and walls on my last trip.
