APEngine talks to Oliver Harrison about his debut feature Badinage and the difficulties of making the leap from advertising to full-length film. Oliver Harrisons first short, Amore Baciami, was the first kinetic typography film. Used by the Royal Mail in a Valentines commercial, it bagged him a Gold Lion at Cannes. From these auspicious beginnings Oliver has gone on to produce ads for the likes Nike, Toyota and Marie Claire, design the titles for the Oscar-winning Howards End and and win a slew of awards for his short films (including two commissioned by Animate).

Badinage continues his preoccupation with the power of words, painting a portrait of a macabre fantasy world where art, music and free speech have been banned by a repressive regime and the only hope for the future are the poets who bring free words to the people like rays of light and colour. Badinage is set for release in 2010.
