Whatever happened to David Nixon? He seemed to disappear off our tv screens in about 1979 and I think I remember my mum and dad telling me that he died.

Don't forget that this was a very different time in light entertainment. I always found that Nixon's laid back "Uncle David" persona focussed things on the magic rather than, as with the big US acts and - god help us- Paul Daniels, overwhelming it with fake glitz and annoying gags. That and Anita was A BABE. x

It's great to see this old footage but I've never understood how David Nixon became such a big TV magical star - his presentation and charisma (or lack of even in those days) is bloody woeful !
