Quincy asked us to film this with the camcorder we had at the house. Not professionally shot, but Quincy didn't care -- he wanted to do something.... anything he could. The full text:
"Hello, I'm Quincy Jones. As you all know the island of Haiti has been struck by a catastrophic disaster. As our prayers go out to the countless victims of the disaster and their loved ones, I urge you to please look into your hearts and contribute anything you can to the disaster relief efforts. This is NOT a dress rehearsal -- if there was ever a time to give, this is it. To give five dollars to Yele Haiti, Wyclef Jean's foundation that is working on the ground in Haiti now, simply text "YELE" to 501501. As we showed with "We Are the World," there is no force greater than what we can do collectively to help our fellow man in their time of desperation and need. Haiti is the personification of God telling us that together we can and must do more than any of us can do alone. We are family now."
Quincy i understand its for a good cause but honestly why ruin a classic? i really dont like the new one it isnt the same with out mj..but i did my part by donating.

I can't believe anyone even considers replacing Michael's voice in WATW! Sad.

Quincy, PLEASE reconsider removing Michael's voice from We Are the World. It doesn't matter who you get to sing Michael's part, it will not be the same. I heard that his children will contribute a spoken poem which is also beautiful (Michael would love that). But since Michael is no longer here to help produce the project, it FEELS LIKE YOU ARE ERASING HIS LEGACY. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS. Michael means so much to so many people who are still grieving beyond words.

Hearing We Are the World without Michael's voice will be just another painful stab in the heart. Janet singing and Michael's kids contributing does not equal honoring Michael. It still feels like a slap in the face to me and his millions of fans around the world who LOVE Michael. PLEASE QUINCY, WE ARE THE WORLD IS NOT THE SAME WITHOUT MICHAEL'S VOICE. Without Michaels voice, the single will not raise as much money as it could. For the sake of the charity, please put him back where he belongs.

1. Michael's voice is being replaced on the rerecording of We Are The World by either Janet or Jermaine. If you are like me, you find this very upsetting & unacceptable.
We Are The World is Michael's legacy & he should NOT be removed from it. If you agree, please Google "We Are The World" & leave comments on the many articles & websites telling Quincy you are unhappy with Michael's voice being removed & request that he add Michael back.

2. Email Quincy & Lionel & the artists involved. Start a website called "Keep Michael's Voice on We Are The World". Twitter about it, leave comments on here on YouTube, MySpace, Facebook, etc. Please start_ today & don't stop until Michael is added back-even when the recording is finished. A big enough out cry could make it happen. Michael's kids may be contributing a poem to the song, which is beautiful. So please keep them in mind when leaving comments. Spread the word-always with L.O.V.E.

Yes, thank you Quincy Jones. I appreciate what you are doing to encourage people to help Haiti. Please ask MTV and the sponsors of HOPE FOR HAITI TELETHON to play HEAL THE WORLD on Friday night & keep it on the airways. We all know the power of Michael Jackson's music to uplift & inspire. Now is the time to hear it once more -- for our family in Haiti. We're sending his message, again and again on all channels. HEAL THE WORLD!

Thank you Mr. Jones for doing your part to get the word out that we are all brothers and sisters on this big blue marble. You have my deepest admiration and respect. If we all just give what we can afford...multiplied by millions...we can make a big impact of helping these devastated people. Heal the World!!
