OMG!Look at her mouth at the end of this clip!!

By all accounts, Judy was a wonderful, caring, down to earth person, and that really comes accross in this number. Sure, she had her problems (who doesn't?), but considering she was (and still is) one of the biggest stars in the world, it's remarkable she didn't have a reputation for being a rude, arrogant b(*&^. People love Judy for being the down to earth, extraordinary talent that she was. I would really love to have known her. Thanks for sharing :c)

My favorite part of this song (besides Judy, of course) is the woman that says "Do tell!" in the middle of the song, LOL. Absolutely love Summer Stock, a seriously underrated film. A classic in my book!

@pandorabangles it's father time not "by the dime"

When I was a kid, (back in the '70s), they always cut the FIRST song, "If You Feel Like Singing, Sing" (inferior to this song - so I now feel lucky!)...but I always thought
the closing lyric was: "You get paid by - By the DIME!" Good grief! No wonder I thought farmers were poor!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@NFitalianGuy I remember that! I had a badly edited WOR version of this on video and I didn't even know about this song until I saw the "real" VHS! :) How stupid for them to cut such great numbers of those musicals. Calamity Jane was another one where they cut. At least WOR served to introduce us to these great musicals!

Judy Garland was an angel. She always cheered us up with the roles she played. Never do I mistake her voice for another's. Her self-sacrifice was really tremendous.
Thank you, Judy. I will never forget how fabulous you were.

The 1st time I saw SummerStock was in 1983 on WORa NYC station. They cut out This number to make more time for commercials. Certain stations also cut out Judy's 2 songs in Easter Parade, the "I was born in Michigan and Better luck next time" Why cut out Judy's songs espeically in a musical. until I seen it yrs later on TCM I was in awe of how great Judy sang this song & how long she held that last note, Why would they cut out any musical number in a Musical?
Thanks so much for posting this! This song always cheers me up when I'm feeling blue and reminds me of the summer when it's cold and rainy. Happy harvest!!
