We are not here to tell you how to live your life. But I think its important for people, especially athletes to understand the danger of Cigarette smoking. I found this on a website and thought I would share it.
"Cigarettes contain nicotine and other substances, which makes it highly addictive. The more puff you each day, the harder it will be to get over your addiction to cigarette. If you are into any kinds of sports your endurance will weaken if you smoke. The chemicals and nicotine on a piece of cigarette is enough to get the body destabilized.
Endurance is part of the make-up of all athletes to stay longer in the game, and this needs a strong lungs. Every athlete trained not just to be competitive but to build their strength, and training will be useless if the person is smoking.
Smoking can damage the lungs and make you less strong to endure any physical activity. Notice how long-term smokers tend to catch their breath every time they jog, run and walk up into a flight of stairs. Not a very nice sight if you happen to see someone struggling just to get into the next floor.
For an athlete who smokes, this is a sure way to lose their game. Smoking athlete will use most of their energy in order to breathe properly, rather than use the energy to stay longer in the game. The more you puff the more oxygen is depleted in your body and hence makes you easily predisposed to fatigue.'
None of us smoke. I believe smoking limits your peak performance. If we can inspire just one person to quit smoking, I will be happy.
