Twenty years ago, shocking photos from Romanian orphanages went around the world. The situation in the orphanages has improved, but many Romanian children still grow up without any parents. The terrible conditions in Romanian orphanages did not become known until the end of the Ceauşescu dictatorship: neglected, apathetic children sitting in their own excrement on rotten straw. The reports triggered a wave of foreign assistance. Churches and other organizations stepped in to oversee the many homes. But one result has been that parents now put their children in orphanages, believing they'll have it better there than at home.
even if you are normal it's dificult to survive in Romania
Those pupil were aband. there by their families when everybody has a job and a house (before 1989) Why did they left th there?
Now half of the romanians work abroad. 1 theacher in Transilvania told me that in her school more than half of the children are home with the grandmother or some relatives, afraid that the parents won't come back. When the parents of one doesn't come back, they are afraid their parents will do the same thing.
