  • 255 thing happened while fighting the final boss battle against Kefka... also, if you use the phoenix esper during that fight, it will most likely screw everything up. If cure 3 is your 255th move during the Kefka battle then a bunch of 8's will go all over the place.

  • @Valientlink - Interesting, I might try that out later. It sounds like it might be particularly buggy on Kefka due to how the game registers his sprite and all that. Interestingly, the sprite you're attacking isn't the actual sprite from what I've heard... haven't checked that out yet, though...

  • The Vanish-Doom trick is not a glitch, it's just a clever strategy, because in the Kefka-fanatic tower it's impossible to kill the enemies without that trick (or a Ultima...)

  • @IkeMercenary - It's a glitch when used against bosses, hence why they fixed it in FF6GBA. It's a glitch because bosses are immune to death effects (sans a few). There is no boss in Fanatic's Tower you can't kill without it, and there are no enemies you can't kill without that trick. Yes it's a clever trick against normal creatures, but against bosses it's a glitch because it was unintended.

  • I don't know about the GBA version, but in the PSX version the Vanish/X-Zone trick still works on specific enemies. I don't know if it only works on enemies who are susceptible to Death and whatnot, but I actually found that with some enemies it sill works really well. If they're already vulnerable to death, especially. It just makes sure that Doom and X-Zone CAN'T miss.

  • @Arlando909 - You're 100% correct, any enemy succeptible to death is still vulnerable to vanish + doom/x-zone. I should've been more clear on the bug description: Bosses are normally immune to instant death. Vanish removes that modifier, and because it's been patched in later version we have every reason to believe it was an unintended effect of vanish. Otherwise this trick works wonders against normal creatures if you're having difficulty killing them.

  • @ChaosChronicle I'm not sure why phoenix messes it up so bad. It puts all of this crap all over the place, I don't know why... I mean it is easy for 255 spells to be used before you get to God Kefka, but I've done under that with Ultima spam and it still happened.

Another thing I found though, is that if Kefka falls from a counter attack (say he is below the 10080 HP mark and he's at his ultima/physical counter attacks) then he will fade like a normal enemy and the battle will just end

  • Shadow felt guilty about your party using Vanish+Doom so he left.

  • Vanish and doom takes all the fun out of it!

  • I found out the hard way that invisible Intagnir still gets his final counterattack after Doom though, heh.

    Walking through walls FTW.

Hah, Cyan can't take it any more.
