Bonus track from Bruce's Best of-album. Writtein by Bruce Dickinson.
Synthetic drums by machine
Guitar: Janick Gers
Lyrics:
Here, in a church, a small boy is kneeling
He prays to a god he does not know, he cannot feel
All of his sins of childhood he will remember
He will not cry, tears he will not cry

Man of sorrows, I won't see your face
Man of sorrows, you left without a trace
His small boy wonders, what was it all about?
Is your journey over - has it just begun?

Vision of a new world from the ashes of the old
"Do what thou wilt!", he screams from his cursed soul
A tortured seer, a prophet of our emptiness
Wondering why, wondering why...

Man of sorrows, I won't see your face
(I won't see your face)
Man of sorrows, you left without a trace
His small boy wonders, what was it all about?
Is your journey over - has it just begun?

A man of sorrows, wrecked
With thoughts that dare not speak their name
Trapped inside a body, made to feel only guilt and shame
His anger all his life - "I hate myself!", he cried
"Do what thou wilt!"
"Do what thou wilt!", he cried

Man of sorrows, I won't see your face
(I won't see your face)
Man of sorrows, you left without a trace
(left without a trace)
His small boy wonders, what was it all about?
Is your journey over - has it just begun?

Man of sorrows, I won't see your face
(I won't see your face)
Man of sorrows, you left without a trace
(left without a trace)
His small boy wonders, what was it all about?
Is your journey over - has it just begun?
Has it just begun?

  • great song. :)

this is the demo if anyone wants to know

  • @Nilklas Yup, kind of demo. Bruce said that he wrote this song for the movie called Chemical Wedding but it never got made in '90s (at last, they filmed the movie several years ago and Chemical Wedding was released 2008) and they recorded the song again for Accident of Birth album.

  • ITS MORE THAT AMAZING

  • this is SONG

  • GREATE SONG SO FILOSOFER AND STRONG ITS REAL ROCKNROLL

    BRUCE DICKINSON REAL MAN

  • @PrimeSlave I must agree with that. He's also underrated as guitarist. I think that's because he wasn't loud "its-all-about-me" ego maniac like some guitarists back there in 80's.

  • @Adrian92Smith Yeah. There are some awesome solos and melodies and I especially like ASAP; Silver And Gold, Blood On The Ocean... Adrian's solo works are quite underrated.

  • @PrimeSlave every single solo he recorded is pure ownage. listen to psycho motel and asap(his solo projects),he absolutely owns there.

  • @Adrian92Smith I think that some other guitarist (Maiden guys, Roy Z) are almost as awesome as Adrian but... when people listen Stranger In A Strange Land, Starblind or Moonchild they must agree with you and if they don't they've missed a lot.

  • Adrian owns every single guitarist in the world. the end.

  • Bruce got Big Balls :)
