very nice clip! one comment: Zhao Changjun and Yuan Wenqing are not from the same province. ZCJ is from Shaanxi(Xi'an) and YWQ from Shanxi(Taiyuan).

keep in mind most of modern wushu athletes are 100 times stronger and faster than most traditional wushu masters.

now modern wushu is not for fighting, is a demostrations sport. but I could argue neither traditional wushu is for fighting, check bruce lee and how he almost hated traditional wushu because is useless. but again modern wushu is not a combat sport :D

I prefer this guy('s Changquan) to Yuan Wen Qing's. They're both incredible, but man... ZCJ's spirit, choreography and ultra badassness is the best.

Also, yeah it sucks to see modern athletes doing bullshit arm waving for 40 seconds before a jump combo, but there have been huge advances in speed and strength training over the years, and I certainly don't think there's a lack of spirit. If there's anything that's universal in Wushu, it's the spirit.

Taolu in general isn't for combat. It's for teaching the body to move and making it stronger.

You might very well be practicing a standard traditional Shaolin Form, and if so you would not find it here. These forms here were made up by the government during the cultural revolution. They are purely acrobatics/dance. If you watch closely you will see that none of the punches have focus or power, just the waving around of arms. There are many examples of traditional arts on Youtube. Try searching under Shaolin, I'm sure you'll find it. ;-)
