Halifax Busker's 2008 - Kirk Open Air - Waterfront (pt 2)

This video is of Kirk open air preaching on the Halifax Waterfront during Busker's 2008. He decided to do something different this time... a "mock funeral." We actually began to gather a crowd before it began, but as soon as they found out it was preaching, they took off. It was really quite sad.

This is the first session of the "mock funeral," but the second session became very interesting. However, we were no able to get it on camera. Eric thought he pressed record, but it didn't record a single thing! That's okay, it's probably better that we didn't get it on film. The lady who freaked really embarrassed herself. So here's the story...

Kirk usually brings up a popular news item about death to get people thinking about it. The latest one would be about Tim McLean. He brought it up because Tim McLean woke up that morning and did not expect to die that day. Kirk also brought up the fact that what that man did to Tim McLean was very wicked (and the man was wicked for doing it). No harm done... right?

A lady wearing a black cowboy hat was standing there, appearing to be awe struck. We thought she was very interested in what Kirk was saying, so Kirk asked her, "M'am in the black cowboy hat... what do you call someone who tells a lie?"

Her whole facial expression changed, she looked disgusted, and replied, "A CHRISTIAN!" and spat on the ground, stomping away. Kirk called something out to her to get her to come back, and she turned around, stomped up to Kirk about a foot away (and very close to Sarah's head!) started screaming in his face! She began accusing us of being like the Westboro Baptist group, and that she had started a group on Facebook trying to keep them from Tim McLean's funeral. Kirk basically said "Good for you! You should oppose Westboro Baptist... they aren't even Christians!" The lady then looked startled, as if she was not expecting that. She continued to scream at the top of her lungs telling us that the man who killed Tim McLean is mentally ill, thus the murder was not his fault.

Long story short, security came, who then called the police, and the police politely asked us to leave. I guess the waterfront is private property and they can kick off whoever they feel like for whatever reason they want. So we left... but we came back later! :)

And no... WE ARE NOT MORMONS! I know the white shirts with the black ties looked very Mormonesque, but we didn't realize this until some of the guys were walking around, and people were looking at them strange. I warned them not to go off in two's. However, they seemed to have a great idea so that people wouldn't think they're Mormons... they said that they could pretend to be a boy band!
