You're right, The Pixies do deserve credit, they helped Kurt find his songwriting style, which is why Nevermind has the quiet loud dynamic, and the popularity of the album also made the quiet loud dynamic a traditional grunge song template, like the song The Day I Tried To Live.

I like the first 3 Muse albums. Didn't care much for black holes and revaluations. The one after was ok, but nothing like the originals. Just srtaed listening to 2nd law. So far, pretty decent
