Except that having a uniform looks on all your stations take away a local identity. However, NBC does allow their stations to have different names for their newscasts if they wish. WNBC goes by News 4 New York, KNBC goes by The Channel 4 News, WRC in Washington goes by News 4. Plus, NBC's affiliates don't have to call themselves "NBC(channel #)", though some do.

The music is not that bad. WNBC should have gone with this, at least is sounds remotely like the 2003 music.

NBC wants a uniform look across their Owned and Operated stations. They aren't "copying" each other as each station get a somewhat customized version of the graphics and/or music.

Like I said a uniform look across O&Os is what NBC wanted and that's what they got. When you go from NY to LA you know that you're watching NBC based on the look of the TV Station.

They don't use this music cut in any of their opens anymore.
