  • I and thousands of booksellers across the country agree with you.

  • Bottom line is that Chelsea Green, by ommitting the indie shops that have made them who they are today have demonstrated their total lack of concern for indie community. Yep, they will make some money, but at oh what a cost.

  • Chelsea Green has violated every indie bookseller across the country by promoting this in such greed induced fashion. The marketing of this book has been a slap in the face to those who have supported this indie press and as a result indie shops across the country are responding by cancelling orders, returning books and telling Chelsea Green that hypocracy is not welcome. The promotion of this video is of itself proof that Chesea Green is not an advocate of indies. We will be cancelling today

  • Oops, Green. Of course, they use the money word...I don't know how I could've forgotten.

Check their website, man - look for the explanation to booksellers on why they sold out to amazon. Corporations aren't stopping them, corporations are helping them. They didn't walk their talk, and that's why independent booksellers are so disgusted with them. Selling out is great, money is great, but they did it at the expense of others, who really do live what they preach.

  • Chelsea Gardens?! Do you even know who/what you're talking about? It's Chelsea GREEN and they've done great books for years. It looks to me like they tried something new and got dinged for it. Bottom line is that this book has a progressive message and corporations--for whatever reason they give--are stopping it from getting out there. I applaud Chelsea GREEN for trying new promotion ideas.

  • Barnes & Noble is boycotting the book (as are many independent bookstores) because Chelsea Gardens gave an exclusive to Amazon to sell the book before anyone else could have it. So they twist their corporate sellout into a marketing opportunity for themselves. Are they getting advice from Karl Rove?

  • Knock 'em out Chelsea Green! BTW, how about you try this: in the spirit of recycling, etc. You send the book to one blogger who then sends it to the next, etc. and around and around. That will at least get the word out. Or maybe offer it as an eBook, too (which you probably have already done.)

Anyway, keep up the good work.

  • I don't have the time to waste on drivel like the Corsi book, but Kuttner's OBAMA'S CHALLENGE really is worth your time. It's way more than a "pro-Obama" book--it describes what Obama must do to succeed. He _can_ do it, but nothing is guaranteed. Read this book and you'll see why the challenge is so great--both for Obama and for us all.
