The motor controller in this video was designed for a senior project in Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington. This video demonstrates what happens when dynamic braking is initiated while the motor is operating in the forward direction.
I was surprised that the circuit we implemented to vary the rapidity of braking actually worked.
