Sometimes when you plug a new USB external hard drive into your PC it will not show up in Windows Explorer. This might be because the drive is new and needs to be initialized, a partition created and formatted

  • after i put in my new drive, a black screen appears and says, install boot system....? this is a new drive and im not worried about saving files or anything like that. what do i do?

  • @MrRichierich1990 Are there no other drives in that computer and you are starting from scratch with a new hard drive? If so, you need to install Windows or another operating system

  • I have an HP m8530f. I just installed a new HD bc the old constantly freezes and BSOD. I have the factory recovery discs... do I need to format or when I install the recovery discs it will run itself?
