  • great video, would this be the same with irons?

  • Don't know what he says, but I'd say absolutely yes.

The drill is a version of a Harvey Penick drill he called the "magic move"--and Harvey was not prone to overstatement. This guy is a welcome antidote to all the harebrained gurus out there trying to get people to shove the arms and club around with the "big muscles" before the golfer has learned to swing his arms and release the club.

  • Harvey was a huge influence!

  • yes if you have the same ball flight issue...many times the longer clubs seduce us into the over the top move. cheers,

  • Just wanted to say thanks for the tip, ironically I had a lesson today on this very thing and your image of swinging to my right foot really keeps things simple. Keep up the good work!

  • sounds like your instructor is a good dude....keep him and don't try stuff without running it by him or me first!!!! :)

  • This is exactly what Ben Hogan taught. Bravo! When I do this I can draw the lower lofted clubs; it flattens out the swing, makes it more around the body, and I believe it also helps close the club face.

  • You actually pulled that shot a bit.....

  • won't I hit it fat dropping my arms straight down in the forward swing?

What should I feel, that just let gravity take my arms while my body drives forward?

  • WITH ALL THAT I HAVE STUDIED AND ALL THE LESSONS i HAVE TAKEN , THIS SOLVED MY PROBLEM QIICKLY.

  • And what a great influence!

I'm convinced what you're saying is vital for almost all amateurs and more than a few pros, too.

Your downswing (here at below normal full speed, I'm guessing) is just golden. I hope people watch how much speed can be developed with the right path (which gives you the right angle of approach into the back of the ball, of course) and how long they can hit it with that kind of downswing and centerface contact. Most people have never felt anything like it before.

  • It may sound simple but just make sure you consciously finish on the left side. Your so focused on this arm drop that your just not finishing the weight shift. Cheers

  • I tried this using half swings and it worked great. Once I moved to full swings, I seem to get stuck on my right side (right hande player) going through the shot. Do you have any drills to help get me to the left side through the ball?

    Thanks!
