@TheSJproduction haha, i keep finding people from our community starting flame wars on dubstep videos! its amazing how defensive people get about dubstep... or brostep? lol

People get annoyed by the "broification" of dubstep because, for a lot of people their musical taste is a huge part of their identity so when a genre changes so rapidly into something so different it affects how they feel people perceive them and how how they want to be perceived. Dubstep and this new filthy wave are very different many original steppas feel that their scene has been hijacked by a new wave of kids looking for something completely different while still using the same name.

@detBits thats a good idea! :D

@uncensored008 I guess I agree with that. But it's not like people buy albums any more. You go on spotify or wherever and listen to stuff. Someone says "hey, you gotta check out this new dubstep artist, wobby mcwobberson" and you listen to 10 seconds and find out that it's brostep. I find brostep to be somewhat derogative, though. I like both genres, but I feel like brostep got pegged as the retarded sibling of dubstep, even though brostep is technically harder to do right.

@ronnysoeberg Imagine calling a pizza joint for delivery, but when you open the box, you find raw eggs. This is clearly not what you wanted, so you wonder "why don't they say they do raw eggs instead of pizza then?" it is kinda like that. Labels music labels and genres help people find more of what they enjoy and avoid what they don't enjoy (granted in some cases they do get SUPER specific)

I am a Dubstep fan, i.e Burial, Digital Mystikz, Pinch & Shackleton etc - I also, as it happens, listen to Industrial/Noise, I've been to Tekno raves and NIN gigs. I have a deep, deep love of distortion and noise but I wouldn't be shouting at a blues artist to give me that, nor would I be shouting at a Dubstep producer to give me that either. Skrillex isn't even that terrible put up against "dance" producers like Tiesto but against a genre based on darkness and subtlety, he just has no place...
@TheSJproduction Skrillex is a "pioneer for electronic, dubstep, and such"? ROFL Skrillex is to dubstep what David Guetta is to house music.....a disease.

The problem with all eletronic music fans is that they are so unbelievably obsessed with genres. And it's because everything within one genre sounds exactly the same, so when something sounds a bit different people just go nuts and shun that artist, so that becomes a different genre, and when someone does something in that genre that sounds a bit different again, bla bla, ad infinitum. You get this phenomena only in electronic music and metal. In between, no one gives a fuck, it's just music.
