This is one of the most romantic yet innocent movies i have ever seen....Everytime i watch it i want him to get on the bus but he is a realist. Im just a sucker for romance!!!

@ryan49er1 She's also Greg's wife in the CBS sitcom "Yes, Dear"... but I forget what her character's name is....

wow, isn't Rowena a major hottie or what?? marriage destroyer if it's a weak man you're talking about, yes?

I truly appreciate your feedback. My only intention was to convey the idea that there really is an inherent beauty in the connection that can be established between a student and a teacher or coach or instructor or older friend... so long as things are handled with heart and scruples.
A student can walk up to you and greet you years later with the utmost gratefulness and appreciation when things work out that way... and I think that's worth everything in this profession.

@josepablobolanos Normally on here, I click on "like" or "dislike", but your comment is very different, very unique and personable. You presented a different perspective I haven't seen. I don't know if you've written stories or poetry, but you should consider it. You had me from your first sentence. Thank you for your comment! I fell in love with this story line, and myself having having a major crush on a teacher that started when I was 13 (and I'm still blushing over him at age 46!)...

P.S. I love the scene when he returns to his wife. Rowena should have taken her attraction to Mr. Holland and put it in the back of her mind. Then, she could have eventually married a music teacher her own age - and maybe someday he'd come home to HER after turning down a student.

I really dislike Rowena... Besides, does she even come back for the end? No. She probably didn't make it anywhere.

Life can be painful...The decision's that one must make can be extremely heartbreaking, especially when these decisionsare dealth with when you are older and she is much younger...A memory for the hearbreak hotel, as they say...
I agree that the Mr. Holland stays true to his wife, as he should, and it a wise decision.
sometimes in life u may fall in love with the right person, but they either appear too late in your life, or in the wrong timing.

Romantic tension between a young student and a mentor is a normal thing. I think we all know it.
More often than not, it quickly fades. Sometimes, it keeps building up for no clear reason. A student's hormones and a teacher's need to feel young again is a sweet and dangerous temptation.
It is, however, a beautiful thing when both choose to express themselves in an uncorrupted way: a student eagerly brushes her brow against her teacher's lips; he grants one tender and memorable kiss. It's done.
