I broken my new g3 truck after two weeks of testing. Actually I'll get a new base of the truck from freebord (really great service ^_^), but I'm still not confident with the new g3 truck. So I made some thoughts and invented this one, maybe its rubbish but maybe we all will ride some shit like that in 2-3 years.

  • i have a question that i really want freebordMAD to answer:

what makes the freebord stop ''like a snowboard''

  • ehm do you know what a freebord is???

because it works like a snowboard and you can slide?

look at the Freebord Emergency Stop video here in youtube

  • yeah ive seen it and i know how it works...sorta

i just wanna know whats dragging on the ground to make it slow down?

  • The freebord has two oversized skateboard trucks and two centerwheels which can go in all directions. If you spin only on the center wheels, which are nearer to the ground, you will loose no speed, but if you turn your bord sideways to the direction of travel and put your rear wheels from the skateboard truck on the ground they will not be able to spin(they are not in the direction of travel but 90° to it). This will make you stop. The more pressure you put on your edge wheels the faster you stop

  • oh i see. how do you switch from normal wheels to center wheels when your moving and carving?

  • the center wheels are a bit farther from the deck then the others, therefore you always stend on the centerwheels, but you can switch between backside and front side edge wheels

  • BTW you said you broke the rivet? I don't see why you would redesign the bearing then...

  • Good idea, you should build it! a normal 608 bearing can take up to 1350N static load so you might bust one after some beating. experiment and find out what works :)

  • @Supercoolnscene yea and how much direct pressure can a bearing take. thats putting the entire rider's weight over 1 contact point on 1 bearing.

  • the main problem i can see is that this leaves the bearing very exposed to the elements and i think it might provide for a much less smooth carve.

  • Smartness

  • you ideas good and all with shoping cart casters but they would have thought this over like with ripstik so the more angeled it is the more speed so if the wheel was almost horizontal it would gain and hold speed better

  • I hope you've built this yourself by now. It's a good idea:)

  • sick bro you should send that freebord people

  • Good idea but your setup is too pricy. All they need to do is make vertical hole over the center and put something to make it solid.

Like that your more stable too when you ride on those 2 wheels

  • to stop on a snowboard you just turn on an edge ( heal edge ) and with a centered stance lean back on your heals and lift your toes . it is the same for freebording too. i have the old x80 ,
