I wanted to make a Gundam AMV, and thought that it would be great if I included shots from all the Gundam series that I owned. However, that didn't work out, so I cut it down to two series: 08 MS Team, and 0080. For those of you who know the Gundam timeline and technical advancements, the title of this video will make sense.

  • The Alex Gundam of 0080 is definitely an improvement over the RX-78-2 Gundam. But technically speaking, the GM-79 [g] ground type 'gundams' are inferior to the RX-78-2. They been designed around parts of the RX-78 models who didn't meet the high demands of the V-project specs. --> there made of left-overs, tasty left overs, but still leftovers.

And for the Alex: you can only imagine what a real newtype like Amuro could do with a RX-78-NT1

  • True. True, but for one thing. The RX-79[G] wasn't made of left over parts, at least in the beginning. That happened as the war ground on and supplies became scarce. When first constructed, the RX-79[G] was constructed as a test-bed machine with prototype parts to gather data on how well certain components preformed. Given the events in the first episode of 08 MS Team, the RX-78-2 was build first, with the RX-79[G] following afterward.

  • xD

The video and audio work together really well. Well done!

  • Yep. I try to do right by Gundam.

  • what song is that?

  • It the anthem from Top Gun.

  • but then again, is you splash a good coat of red paint on Alex, and bam, 3x the speed of the Mk.II.

  • This would work better with 0083, since it ripped a few major plot point from Top Gun, but still quite good.

  • @Krafterr4 just zeon knowhow.

  • @lordshin Bloody orks!

  • WOO! Kampfer

  • @GuttedWrenStudios I'd go so far as to say that the Alex probably couldn't even match the RX-178 Gundam Mk.II. It's certainly a brilliant design; it's mass produced counterpart, the RGM-79N GM Custom, outclassed every other Federation model in the pre-Titans MS lineage, save for the GDP prototypes. But with the movable frame, as you mentioned, combined with the incredibly powerful thruster array and excellent core reactor, the Mk.II's power-to-weight ratio definitely trumped the RX-78NT-1.

  • Even though the Gundam Development project was implemented long after Operation V, this AMV still would've been perfect with some 0083 footage, especially since that show has so many characters that are parallels to Top Gun. But still, this video is awesome, and it goes to show that only 80's rock music sounds epic enough to be used in a Gundam series. lol Well done!

  • @Xcalburnite ah the gp03.. such a wonderful unit

  • @Xcalburnite That might take a lot of tuning to over come the Zeta, Double Zeta, Nu gundam, And F91 in terms of speed maneuverability, fire power, and Advanced new type and bio computer systems.

  • @reddragon162 actually i read that the RX-79[G] was built from spare parts from the original test bed Gundams. but since they lacked the specs of the original RX-78-2 they were considered inferior. but as the war went on they ran out of parts to repair the mass produced gundams and made due with the GM parts

  • @MegaManX1415 Understood. Though I would say the RX-79[G]s had the RX-78-2 beat in versatility.
