A video slideshow of Jane Seymour and her son Edward VI.
Jane died 12 days after giving birth to her first child, she and Edward never had the opportunity to know one another. However in Jane's 12 days after Edward's birth she wrote fondly and of great love for her son. And as Edward grew he came to learn about the kind and loving woman that was his mother.

  • at 1:42 this is Henry Fitzroy,Lady Blount's son

  • It's disputed as to which one of Henry's sons the sitter is, I tend to believe it is Edward, as opposed to Bessie's son.

  • I bet Edward got to see his mother for the first time in heaven.

Jane would come to her son, and look at him.

Edward runs to his mother, as she kneels down and hugs him.

  • This is so neat! There aren't many videos out there with both Jane and Edward. Thank you for such a nice tribute to them!

It's a really comforting thought, but in reality the tudors were probably distant with each other. It's how the royals in England worked.

I know you posted that comment ages ago, I guess you can call me a loser if you want :)

  • mother and son didnt even get used to each other

  • @100percentbabeLOL

Jane would absolutely have loved her son despite his religious leanings. For the sake of fairness, however, Mary also loved her younger half-brother dearly despite his attempts to sever her from her faith, and yet, she is depicted as an ogress.

  • @ligreekguy Going by the type of person Jane was she would love her son unconditional, he was just a child still brought up to hate papists. I use that term as that how he was brought up to see with those by around him.

  • 1:47... wow! look how alike the two are! I think its safe to say Edward took after Jane :)

  • @LNor19

    I agree.

  • jane loved her nunnery gear didnt she? lol

  • @ligreekguy I don't think it was Edward's fault, it was his uncle that brainwashed him.

  • Poor Jane, she was such a good Catholic, how shocked and disappointed she would have been to see her son as a fanatical Protestant!
