This true story of enduring love comes from Illinois based singer-songwriter Jim Post. I'm performing the song at the 1985 New Hampshire Folk Festival in this old video. Happy Valentine's Day to the older couples who've kept it together and the younger couples who aspire to.
First off, let me say that your performance was one of the best I've ever seen. Brings tears to my eyes everytime I watch it.
Jim Post is alive and well in Galena, IL., doing his one man Mark Twain show and playing shows. I run into him from time to time at open mikes. Could you tell me the cords and progressions you use in this song, I'd like to play it for Jim the next time I see him. I think he'll get a kick out of it...

@RyanMackayGetz Thanks so much for the kind comments, and for keeping me up with Jim's activities, Ryan. I think its great that you're going to play this song for him. I'm using 'G' position chords with a capo on the third or fourth fret. I'm using basic diatonic key-of-G chords - G, Bm, Em, D, C, Am. There are a few little nuances which I'll send to you in a private message within the week, once I'm home from this trip and have more time.

My Girl (Now Wife) and some friends and I used to See Jim Post whenever he came to the Blue River Cafe. He was always this great singer and a hilarious comedian.
We wonder if Jim is still around doing his thing...
