@fauzo86 LOL. I know you're just kidding. He's not David Bowie. His name is Graham Bonnet, a veteran English rock singer.
-
I didnt know Bowie sings like that and perform with Vai before

the guy singin' reminds me of something off a rocky soundtrack.

@kuay88 Except that Roth's self-caricature bullcrap stud-clown poseur attitude completely ruins any real musical value Vai managed to add to that band. Roth basically ruined every post-Fair-Warning album he's ever been involved with or at best, guaranteed its mediocrity whereas before he kept his silly-ass in check & managed to fuse with Eddie Van Halen to make 4 hard-rock classics.

Compared to the stuff Vai had to play in Zappa's band, basically some of the hardest guitar parts ever written, switching off to some classical scales to play Yngwie's bag of tricks is like a walk in the park. He even does the begining solo part with full picking before hammer-ons, in case any of the morons in the audience think he needs hammer ons to play it as fast as Yngwie's hair-metal ass.

Steve Vai was just not bad in this band. Nothing could compare to his time with David Lee Roth.

It is the Green Meanie before it was painted green.....

okay but does he have to? no he did what he did like many others and esecuted that very well.same like eddie van halen steve vai joe satriani al tremendous players but not over and over and 10 albums long.thats why i prefer bands over just one so called virtuose that only wangs ladders with an utter synthetic sound. But it's all rock/hard rock/metal so it's there for us and it's all for the good reason.

@aryinc Malmsteen could never top Scriabin in terms of musical genius what you did there was apples and oranges : 3 I can do that (but it's music not dick swinging contest)
Malmsteen only plays the most popular classical pieces which are usually the romantic era classical
you would never see him play the pieces of repressed soviet musicians now would you?

i saw one of those Aria Pro II Elite basses on craigslist today.
Yeah, playing for Zappa wasn't prestigious at all. LOL. Vai used Alacatraz much like WingWang did; to get his foot in the door of pop 80s hair bands. To 400SA, it's not that Vai had a long way to go, it's that WingWang has NEVER changed. Same old riffs on every single CD. Vai got the PhD challenge from Zappa in terms of musical diversity.
