@tkdwarrior027 japan ruling class was Samurai. They are warriors. And to warriors martial art is important. That why there sword tech. and jijitsu techniques all have survived.
Compare to that Chosun was ruled by Confusian Scholars, where they didn't like the violence. I don't know how much you know about Korean History but I hope you take some interest. YOu go ahead and watch some of the taekyon clips in youtube, and you tell me the similarity between taekyon and TKD..

@tkdwarrior027 TKD was putted together by Gen Choi hong hee after korean independence from Japanese occupation. Proof? ITF was before WTF. ITF first few form is exactly same as Karate.The things you have to understand is korean history where Why all this fabrication happened? Every nations have some type of their own martial art. Alot of them extinct because it wasn't needed after the inventions of better weapon such as rifle, cannon, and also the political reasons.

@cspark809 no you are totally wrong taekwondo is from taekyon , howrang do , and hapkido .and this three are from korea.
karate is from chinese kung fu and japanese jodu .

@malcbear Regardless of demonstration, in full contact mode, they are mainly focusing on kicks. Kicks are good, but if somebody get's up close, you're without kicks. Taekwondo lacks punches and a good complete blocking and parry system. That is why the Koreans knew that and learned Aikido and call it Hapkido. Then comes TangsooDo as well. These are all just modern made up art. Taekwondo stances are very rigid and they focus fighting straight aways fighting instead of sidestepping.
