The introduction to the Shirley Temple show; Ms. Temple announces the guest stars and sets the mood for their adaptation of L. Frank Baum's second Oz book, "The Marvelous Land of Oz". Do not ask me to upload the entire show, it is available on DVD from Mrs. Temple-Black's own website.

  • Did she say Lord Lick-a-dick?? HAHA!

  • @mattdogg86 Nikidik actuallly... In the book he wasn't an evil lord but rather a magician who mombi bought some magic powders and pills from.

  • The SHIRLEY TEMPLE STORYBOOK series ran on NBC from 1959 to the fall of 1961 in the 7:30 to 8:30 time slot. It was replaced in the fall of 1961 by WALT DISNEY'S WONDERFUL WORLD OF COLOR. The first two seasons were shot on film. So this would have been late 1960 or 1961 in the final season.

  • @RayPointer To be specific this is the first episode of the second season when it was renamed from Temple's Storybook to The Shirley Temple show... and aired on September 18, 1960

  • @KittyRavage - Yes, I miss those times -

  • What happened to good calming television?

    Wow how times change! xD

  • Sorry she didn't get the job back in 1939. Imagine today what "Wizard of Oz" would be like with the original proposed cast of Shirley Temple,W.C.Fields and Buddy Epsen. Better or worse??

  • Please post more of this, somebody.

  • @Kabukihomewood Sure sounded like it to me!

  • I'm not sure..but Ms.Temple's family annthology series began on the ABC TV Network in the late 1950's.

  • It is a shame they do not have any family programs anymore. I am in my mid twenties and at least I had TGIF and the Wonderful world of Disney but now both are gone. What happened to Friday and Saturday nights for putting good movies on.

  • If I really think back, I was very little but did watch the show from time to time, I sort of remember this particular show. Thank you for posting it and thank you experts out there for pinpointing the dates. This would be a fun series to have on DVD if one could find it. I do see some episodes of this series on DVD from time to time in stores, but never this one. If anyone knows where to purchase a copy please let me know.
