@brad175 "Be not drunk WITH WINE" is the simple truth, which you have butchered to suite your own ends. "Be filled with the Holy Spirit" is not something you can quantify with YOUR conditions or YOUR idea of acting as a fool. What you can rightly assume is that the Holy Spirit will not lead someone into deeds of the flesh. That is ALL.

Drunkenness is a sin.
Drunkenness in any form is a sin.
God does not cause people to sin.
These are very simple truths.
The Holy Spirit does many wonderful and miraculous things. Making a person feel elated to the point that they lose their inhibitions to act as a fool is not one of them.

@RansomBackus7 Disagree. "Drunk in the Spirit" is a miraculous, supernatural ocurrence and "disorderly" is in the eye of the beholder.
-
@denoinwa non sequittor. We are talking about drunken and disorderly behavior, not miraculous occurrences.

@denoinwa I have a mystical union with God, and never once have I acted like that or felt like that. Neither is it promised or assumed that I would. Christian History is FILLED with pagan influence, the Catholic and Greek Orthodox churches are rife with it, so that isn't a good defense either.
-
@RansomBackus7 I have done my research. I think you need a differenct lense. As I said, the push isnt for PLEAURE FOR PLEASURE SAKE. It is a direct result of mystical union, which is rooted SOLIDLY in Christian history and tradition. There is PLENTY of legitimate record for such a thing. Brother Lawrence and company did not originate with pagan "mystery" religions.

@denoinwa I see no push for attaining bliss and pleasure in the Bible, Old OR New Covenant. Yes, a certain pleasure exists in resting in God's love, but it isn't talked up and practiced like this for hours on end. Instead, the Bible tells us to be sober and aware. I did some digging. A lot of this stuff you are witnessing is not of christian origin. Where does it stem back to? The gnostic, pagan mystery religions. I am thinking of the Greek God Bacchus. Do some research.

@RansomBackus7 I am glad you've learned to hang in there with the rest of the world. Crowder isnt preaching pleasure for pleasure sake. He is preaching pleasure IN GOD. You can just as well tickle your ears with a bunch of deadbeats who glorify depression, suffering, false humility, and sorrow. Crowder is a man making a point, and making a point sometimes requires provocation and exaggeration. Watch and learn as GOD HIMSELF moves the goalposts.

@denoinwa eating and getting high to stupor are far too different things. Jesus never promised THIS. This is a mockery.
There is so much pureness in all the people highly offended by these actions. But the truth is we are all seeking something that feels good, that is the way God made us.... What we are finally realizing is that there is a fulness that sustains us.... NEW WINE :)

@RansomBackus7 Have you been caught up in the third heaven? Gee, if you havent Paul must not have done it. Have you been transported like Philip? That must not have happened either. You can look at the Bible as record of spontaneous Holy Spirit activity, or you can look at it as a prescriptive manual written for the purpose of writing off people with whom you are uncomfortable. To broad-brush the mystics of the past as "FILLED" with pagan influence is HARDLY doing your homework.
