More at http://www.theuptake.org. rotesters were prevented from marching on the Xcel Energy Center on the evening of John McCain's Republican Nomination acceptance speech by a growing mass of police in St. Paul, Minnesota today. The Uptake's Corrine McDermid was there on the ground documenting the tension, the frustration, and the spirit of those protesters.

I was with the group until 10 minutes before it was broken up with tear gas & flash-bangs. It was entirely peaceful the whole time.

These people were angry, but peaceful.

Also, as a side note, early in the march I found out that 4 local cops had already been outed pretending to be protestors. One was later outed right in front of me.

And it wasn't just kids. There were middle aged people like me there (I'm 45).

How long did the Republicans think they could hold their party together when their only message is to do the exact opposite of what the citizenry wants & throwing more money at the wealthy while providing no solutions and only tearing down any ideas put forth by Democrats, dismissing them all as "Socialism", when the republicans themselves make Socialism look more & more appealing with every stroke of their pens?They are still at a loss to admit to, or even figure out their own failures in Nov.

Someone breaks into your house,you call the police and one car shows up 30 mins later with his lights off. But a cop in trouble call goes out?
