gas piston is supposed to have far less recoil, esp for 5.56

@elsope1 no hes right if you look at all the military setups for ar-15's with ACOG's they are as close to the barrel as possible to assure the best accuracy at many distances - your setup may be fine for say 100 yards, but you will have to spend alot more time figuring out how to hit at 500 yards and it won't be as consistent - think about it, this is the reason high precision scope manufacturer's for bolt rifles have spent so much on research getting the scope as close to the bore as possible?

Your buddy's mount system is WAAAAAAAY too high. He needs a lower mount. The predator rail system that POF uses is already .5" higher than any conventional AR15 rail.
Just my advice. I have the same weapon and went with a lower mount and am much happier.
