  • There were a number of factors that led up to the crash of 5191 but you can't dismiss the most important error... The pilots did not cross check at the hold short line to confirm that they were entering and departing the correct runway. That was the fatal mistake. It is not the responsibility of ATC to make sure your on the right runway. They issue the clearances, pilots are responsible for executing them. It was a mistake.. it's just so sad because it was so easily avoidable.

  • Well easily avoidable in broad daylight. Poor taxiway and runway lighting, would easily be able to mistake runways. As seen in the layout, the Air Traffic control is just one other thing that could have stopped it. They more then likely saw the number and mistook it.

  • The one thing that Ifeel is so important in this touching tribute is the acknowledgement that flight crew are just like me, you and everyone else - human. I appreciate that some relatives need to blame someone for the loss of their loved ones, but I am sure the flight crew never set out to harm anyone or themselves. There was a mistake, it is called "human error". We all make mistakes. I hope and pray there will be repition of these tragic events.

  • @lexlaw007 The NOTAMS also told them that the correct runway was "unlit". So they took the unlit runway. The NOTAMS issued by the ATC tower were INCORRECT! Yes, they hold partial blame, but so does ATC. The fact the NTSB put it ALL on the pilots is dispicable.

  • @Luch1516 If ATC has no responsibility in this, WHY do they sit in a big tall "TOWER" overlooking the airport, for the nice view when they feel like looking out the windows? Why do they have ground radar then? You're full of crap. They bear partial responsibility in this. But its always easier to blame it on the dead guys huh?

  • I knew the people and I worked with them. I would climb back into a plane with them today. Nobody has ever mentioned why a Delta Mainline 737 could not land the night before and had to return back to Cincinnati. These pilots were great pilots. No one understands that they're series of events that lead to a crash. It isn't just one thing. But these guys were great guys and the flight attendant was a superb flight attendant. I hope your flight west was a good one guys.

  • Your story is enlightening. Your music is not relevant to the story. People make mistakes is correct. But I do not fly a jet. i drive a truck. I pay you to fly the jet. I will not kill you with my truck. I don't want to be killed by your 15 second mistake.

  • Reading the CVR, they didn't violate sterile cockpit by "just" six words. They had a lengthy conversation. About children, wives, and stories about crewmembers from other bases. They had been having a conversation prior to sterile, but as soon as sterile kicked in, it should have ended. They kept going pretty much all the way up until take-off clearance.

  • Now to the guy that made this video. I understand it was not literally the faultof the owners and CEO's of Comair, but what do u suggest the families do? Not ask for any money at all because humans make mistakes? Im a pilot and i promise u if that were my family i would want repercussions to the airport and airline as well. Would u sue the pilots? I can promise u as regional pilots they r broke!! Im not ragging u about this, i just wonder what ur solution is if no one should be sued?
