SECRETARIAT: SUPERHORSE in The Preakness

If you want to know how fast Secretariat accelerated jetdr just take a look at the STATS on the 638 hp ZR1 Corvette. That will give you a pretty good idea.(smile)

After this race I am thinking Secreatariat had just plumb worn Sham out & by the time Sham got to the Belmont he did not have much left. His heart might have been weakened to much after this. Just another thought.(smile)

Thats the thing with Sec..yea many horses arent always ridden out..but Sec almost never was. To this day..I have no doubt that if he raced another 3 years and stayed healthy..he'd have about every record from a mile to two miles. Without a doubt. The most gifted horse ever born. Even after the the record Belmont Turcotte said that Sec still had some left. Sec would have upended what it means to run and set records had he continued to race. He only lost because he couldnt talk. Not for ability.

Always wondered if anybody ever did the math to see just how fast he accelerated. I mean that was very expensive sports car fast.

Really a superhorse. I wish I could have seen him.

He could eat up ground like no other horse. See how wide he had to go around the first turn before he sailed around the other horses. WOW. Yes, another second would have been shaved off that record time for sure if Turcotte asked him. Much more than a second if he ran the rail. Lets say 1:51 & change.

Ron is a dec guy, but still has the attitude of an ass. He forgot where the hell he came from before the incedent. Ronny, New Denmark N.B. did not forget you though. A very close neighbour.

Big Red broke the record in ease. Could you imagine if Turcotte really asked him for more? I think you might have seen close to another second shaved off that mark, especially seeing what he subsequently did in the Belmont.

Every time I watch footage of this horse it gives me chills. When he decides to go, his stride devours the ground. He makes the other runners, good horses, look like they are standing still.
