The coverage is from Canadian television. It was unfortunate that the US only aired the exhibitions from this event which served as the pre 1980 Olympic event. From this event sprang the future Skate America competition.

What a skate from him! Thank you so much for uploading this. I have heard so much about the Norton Skate but never been fortunate enough to see any of it. While he was somewhat limited technically in the variety of triple jumps - most of the top men could do at least 3 different triples - those 5.3's are a disgrace. This seems to have been the skate of his life. Wonderful stuff and a pleasure to watch after all these years. He really had charisma on the ice.
