Demo flight courtesy of Piper of a 2008 Meridian for a potential buyer (in the left seat obviously). The buyer was satisfied and placed an order for a brand new plane and took delivery July 2008. I (the cameraman) am the pilot of his new plane, but have yet to get video of any real interest here. Stay tuned...

Oh yeah, sorry about the lack of landing. Darn battery died on approach. Lesson learned...

  • you get to fly that? lucky man

  • @DiamondPilotDan I think I logged about 42 hours in this bird before the owner sold it. Nice plane, but it had some serious speed and endurance limitations. Great personal aircraft for the rich, but wouldn't recommend it for corporate travel. I now fly a Turbo Commander 690B with the Dash 10 engines for my employer. Now THAT'S lucky!!

  • Sexy cockpit!! MAN that looks nice!!!!

Sorry for the late reply, but yes, the Entegra array is very nice and user intuitive. I've no experience with the Garmin 1000 setup now installed on modern Meridians, but I've been told that the Garmin package is superior, yet not as user friendly.

Until I play with both, I'll reserve judgment.

  • @JJLouisiana Can you elaborate on what you mean by endurance limitations? And speed tops out at around 260kts if i'm not mistaken, no?

  • I don't think 1000 nm range is very much for an airplane of this price. I'd probably spend an extra million for a TBM 850, and get a lot more speed too.

  • @crazyk6 gotta wonder how those reading glasses do for a sight picture on an ils to minimums approach.

  • It seems to take a long time to get off the runway (20 seconds?), which I've heard about Meridiens.

  • didn't I see this guy in a citation? I think you got shorted!

  • I'm only 18, I love these planes, they are exellent. But I will not be financially able to own a plane for a long while. Unfortunate fact

My company recently purchased a 08 Meridian. I am based @ KPTN and have a couple questions for you if you have time. Please send me an email at jhover@bgfood.com. Thanks for your time.
