Weird Dire Straits Sound Les Paul thru Marshall

I tried out the 'Peter Greene' mod where you reverse the polarity on the neck pickup. I turned the tone pots all the way to zero and got this Dire Straits honk. I put the guitar back like it was soon after!

i did this with one of mine yesterday just to try. but i took the magnet out of the pickup and reversed it. i dont have my soldering gun right now. it has burstbuckers 1 and 3 , but when i do the peter green(middle Position) it sounds very thin. what do i do

Turn your tone knobs all the way to ZERO and see if that helps. It does sound thin, that's why I didn't leave it, I had to put it back to normal because it was annoying.

or push pull volume and tone to switch polarity or coil when an humbucker can split to a single coil...

its the way to the ultimate lespaul that can do everything.
