Cerritos College Latin Dance class final. 05-11-09

NOTE: We are both beginners, but we are open to to contrusctive criticism :). So please be kind because we practiced this routine in only 3 hrs.

Denise has 2 semesters of the latin dance experience (also a dance major). This was my 1st semester of taking any form of dance class (radio major). I took this class for fun with intent to get down the latin dance basics.

MORE INFO:
For those who aren't familiar with the cha cha style, it consists of 10 count steps like this: 1 2 cha cha cha, 3 4 cha cha cha.

*I totally screwed up her name in the beginning. Her name isn't Claudia.

*I have never ever performed a dance routine for an audience. Not once was I nervous

*Denise deserves props after suffering from a minor concussion earlier in the day

  • I think it's great don't listen to a lot of the rubbish below... however practice it ON2 with the focus on the rhythm and starting with the 2nd beat... one (2) three chachacha (6) seven chachacha... look it up on Youtube there's loads of clips with correct timing!

I'd say you are a lot bolder and game for a go that most of your critics, well done !

    Ellwood Taylor

  • a little bit of overacting for me...I think if you drop some of that and focus on doing it right and clean, then later you can add all sorts of things like that and it will look even better. Right on for the post!

  • kind of scary to see what bad they are

  • the basic technique looks like it's coming on, but really importantly, you're dancing out of time.

The "cha-cha-cha" part of a cha cha is on "4-and-1" of a bar in 4/4 time. So when you start counting to start a cha cha you should count 1, 2, 3, cha-cha-cha. It then continues: 2, 3, cha-cha-cha, 2, 3, cha-cha-cha, 2, 3, cha-cha-cha, etc. So for example, you would count 1, 2, 3, then take the side chassis on cha-cha-cha (4-and-1), then continue on "2, 3," with a backstep. and so on.

  • the girl is everything BUT elegant..... she is definitely not a good dancer ! And the guy is not brilliant either...

  • wrong sync....

  • They are not very good dancers to me. Slow down with that ass girl and show me some steps

  • Coming from a dance background, I'd say this is good! :) A little rocky, but nonetheless nothing a little practice can't fix! :)

  • Great oufffff sexy

  • My only suggestions are that you not take such big steps and sloooooooooooooow down. That little cha cha cha step isn't stomp stomp stomp it's "check me out, "damn, I'm cute". So try a little less step and a little more sway on the triple step, especially in closed position. Other than that good job. Nice use of motion and the floor. I'm not brave enough to put up any of my attempts :) Nice radio voice though
