@FroggieWest I doubt @simonmoto meant they approve of Hitler - but in 1933 when Hitler was elected chancellor, he was probably the best candidate running. Germany was crippled by the enormous reparations owed to the Allies from WW1, and their entire economy had been built up by the previous government (Hitler's main opposition) on the strength of loans from America that were then also demanded back after the Wall Street fiasco.
