5 of 6 how-to rabbit videos presented by Lisa-Karr-Lilienthal, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension Companion Animal Specialist. Rabbits are one of many animal science projects 4-H youth can enroll in. To find out more about 4-H, contact your local extension office. In showmanship, 4-H'ers are judged on their ability to handle and present their animal. For more information about rabbit showmanship, go to http://lancaster.unl.edu/4h/Rabbit/Showmanship.shtml

What is the name of this breed of Rabbits. I had a rabbit like that once. I thought it was only known in middle eastern countries. I got mine from Egypt. In Arabic it is called Jabley rabbits, but when I google rabbits breeds in English my rabbit's breed is not listed. So I would love to know the name of the breed in English, and also how does it behave. Mine is a desert rabbit it is active at night and sleeps all day long.

Good job with the vid but i heard you not supposed to lift you rabbit up by its fur or flesh.
Ednir97 5 months ago
@Ednir97 If done incorrectly, picking up a rabbit by its fur and/or ears can cause injury. However, failure to properly restrain your rabbit during showmanship can result in a rabbit kicking violently to get free. Rabbits have delicate bones and this kicking can break their vertebrae. The neck hold allows exhibitors to secure their rabbits while they present the underside of their rabbits to the judge. You can see how this exhibitor has practiced the neck hold and the rabbit remains relaxed.

is that a standard chin?
b7u7g7 6 months ago
@b7u7g7 Yes, it's an American Chinchilla. Here is a link to the American Rabbit Breeder's Standard of Perfection if you want to know more about the breed:

Wow, that rabbit is so calm. How do you teach a rabbit to be so tame?
joesingle 7 months ago
@joesingle To get a rabbit this calm, it takes a lot of patience and practice. You need to interact with and handle your rabbit daily. Because rabbits are prey animals, they tend to run at any sign of danger. To get your rabbits to feel comfortable with you, you need to allow them time to interact with you and realize you aren't a danger. Providing a safe and stable environment will help as well.
