Tourist TV Bonaire, there is more to see!

Press information
Wednesday November 16th 2011

Starting this Monday November 21st local television will be expanded with the addition of dedicated tourist channel Tourist TV Bonaire. The new station, which can be received through the networks of Flamingo TV and Telbo's MiTV, is the first local station aimed primarily at the Bonairian tourist market.

Tourist TV Bonaire, initiated by Lamédia Bonaire and Scuba Vision Films, is an answer to the need for information that visitors to the island appear to have according to a media survey held in 2010. The survey shows that a TV-channel providing informative programming about Bonaire will be met with enthusiasm by 71% of the interviewed tourists.

Granting their wish for information, Tourist TV Bonaire will show short, tourist-oriented documentaries about subjects in Bonairean culture, history and nature. It also offers companies in the tourist trade the possibility to advertise whatever they have to offer to a specific audience.

Tourist TV Bonaire will provide a daily hour of English-language content consisting of four 12 minute documentaries separated by three minute commercial breaks.

In its initial phase Tourist TV will have two hours of content available, rerunning the first hour all day on day one, and the second hour all day on day two. As time progresses, new hours of content will be added until there is a unique hour of content for each day of the week.

Tourist TV Bonaire will kick off Monday at 0:00h with documentaries about Bonaire's sea turtles, the work of Lora specialist Sam Williams, the history of Bonaire's Indians, and the meaning and evolution of Bonaire's flag and other national symbols.
