  • @fluffythekillerbird umm there supposed to move like that! My saddlebred at her 1st show ever had normal "Quarter Horse" shoes on and had motion to spare. Its just natural for these horses.

  • Those horses are going to be heartbroken when someone tells them about gravity.

Floating like that ain't natural, just ain't.

  • @lintrabbit actually we dont, i own and show morgans, our park horses wear the same shoes as our hunter horses, that "exaggerated" movement you speak of, it actually natural, different breeds move different ways, qhs show with there head lowered right to the ground, you dont see us complaining, you see arabs with there necks over flexed, and do you see us saying its ridiculious? no. so learn what the breed is bred for and what their natural movements are.. these horses are doing what they love.

  • @raqistar AMEN!!!!!! You are right on ALL counts!

  • @lintrabbit I'm guessing you said this without researching. I ride saddle seat, have been to Freedom Hall several times and my horse pulls his hooves up to his chest, pictures on my blog. I do NOT put chains on him OR EVER sore him. It is natural for the saddlebreds to pull their feet up. It's in their genes and we train them, using bell boots. Do your research next time before calling ALL saddleseat riders selfish.

  • God, the way some of these horses seem to float when they gait is just unreal, it really looks like it shouldn't be possible for such a big animal to be so light on it's feet. *.*

  • @lintrabbit I ride saddlebreds, they natural have that type of gait. The shoes exagurate it alittle though. The chains are used only in thraining to build muscle in their legs to wear the shoes.

  • Monaco is so pretty

  • @raqistar I agree, I have seen videos of saddlebred foals in the pastures lifting their legs just as high as adult show horses, but I have never seen a young Quarter horse jog around with his head lower than his knees.

The truth is all breeds and equine sports have issues of one kind or another, and people need to stop acting like heavy shoes is the worst thing that happens, or that their chosen sport/breed is perfect.

  • Yes, because tying horses' heads up for hours to get them to drop them lower in western pleasure is sooooo much better. And rewarding lame, crippled horses who win western classes because they are so sore they can't do more than shuffle. Good saddlebreds can break near level barefoot.
